Obituary
Jay Jennings Towner, 69, of Carrollton, Texas passed away November 26, 2014. He was born on October 9, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts to Johnny Jay Martin and Loretta Faye Jennings. He was adopted by Loretta's husband Melvin Towner in 1949. He married Tricia Sutton in Carrollton, Texas on December 1, 1989. They were married for 24 years. They would have celebrated their 25 Anniversary on December 1st of this year. He was a long time Carrollton resident.
He is survived by his wife Tricia and his sons, Stephen Towner of Reno, Nevada and David Towner of Coppell, Texas. His grandchildren Alec, Alexus, Austin, and Christyn Towner. His brothers Mike (Mary ) Towner, Steve (Anne) Towner, sisters-in-law Rebecca (Jim) Patterson, Roberta (Dick) Stent, Brothers-in-law Scott (Kathy) Sutton, Mark (Robin) Sutton. Nephews Donny, Rusty, and Dylan Towner, nieces Courtney Sawyer, Shawna, and Faye Towner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Melody Martin. Jay lived in Germany, France, Illinois, Texas, and Thailand during his school years while his father was in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Randolph High School on Randolph AFB, Texas in 1963. He went on to Southwest Texas State University graduating in 1969 with a degree in Physical Education and History. Jay coached JV in Robstown and Pearland, Texas before he moved to Lewisville, Texas. He went to work for Allstate Insurance in 1974. He won many achievement awards during his 40 year career at Allstate. Jay was always very devoted to his family and friends. He was very involved in his children's and grandchildren's lives. He often went to band concerts, games, and many other events in their lives. Jay was avid football fan starting in high school where he was co- captain of the football team. He lettered in football at Randolph High. He went to play football when he attended Southwest Texas State. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and traveling through Texas going to antique store picking up special trinkets for the grandchildren.
