ANGELUS FUNERAL HOME - SAN ANTONIO Obituary
Troy Joseph Scroggins, 83, passed away on June 26, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born April 26, 1939, the only child of Troy Scroggins and Zuzanna Rakowitz Scroggins in San Antonio. He was the grandson of one of the original Polish settlers of Panna Maria, Texas, and builder of the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Saint Hedwig, Texas. He was very proud of his Polish roots and being from Texas.
Troy Joseph was educated in San Antonio in various schools, spending 9 years in institutions of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. He was attending Seminary to be a priest, but left to care for his ill Mother and didn’t return. He received a B.A. degree in Latin and English and later an M.A. in English from Our Lady of the Lake University. He taught American History, English, and Latin in various public high schools (Randolph, McCollum, Randolph, and Roosevelt), in the San Antonio area for 18 years, 1963-81. Then he worked for AT&T Yellow Pages in various positions for 20 years in San Antonio, Dallas, and Saint Louis. He retired in 2002.
While in San Antonio, he sang in the SA Liederkrantz, a Men’s German Choral. He also liked listening to symphony, concerts, classical music, and opera. On occasion, he translated Latin text in the music for the Dallas Orchestra director. He enjoyed art museums, traveling, reading, genealogy, and history, especially Texas, photography, and taking pictures of courthouses, old buildings, and Catholic churches. He joined the Panna Maria Historical Society and made memorial contributions in honor of his Great Maternal Grandparents.

SHEILA GAYLE (YOUNG) CHAURET - CLASS OF '69
OBITUARY
Sheila Gaye Chauret
JUNE 14, 1951 – MARCH 26, 2022
Sheila Gaye Chauret, age 70, passed away on 26 March 2022 in St. Augustine, Florida. Born into the military family of Jay Gould Young and Bettye Jo Coleman on 14 June 1951, Sheila spent her childhood through high school living throughout the world. Her most memorable memory is their travels throughout Europe, including crossing through Check Point Charley into East Germany. Sheila met Keith N. Chauret, her husband of 50 years, in high school. Little did she know she would become the wife of an Air Force pilot and spend the next 27 years moving from place to place never staying anywhere for more than 5 years.
She worked in numerous department stores eventually retiring as a manager for May Company after 20 years of service. Work was not her passion. She had three passions. First was her sewing. She could sew, knit, and crochet anything: baby booties, blankets, children’s clothes, hats, her clothes and so on. In her later years, she devoted her time making Angel Gowns from donated wedding dresses. Some three hundred of them are being worn by babies and children in heaven and I am sure Sheila has met every one of them by now. Sheila’s second passion was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved every moment she spent with them and they likewise loved her. They still talk about their grand mom riding every ride at Schlitterbahn Water Park. Her final passion was the seas and islands. Over thirty vacations in the Caribbean and a few to Hawaii, and cruises thrown in for good measure. Oh, cannot forget the trips to the beaches of Texas, California, North and South Carolina, and Florida.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Keith N. Chauret, her children, Keith Chauret and Kristin Chauret, six grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and her two sister’s Kay Knezevich and Karla Nelson.
Sheila did not desire a memorial service. Because of her love for the seas and islands, her ashes have been spread off the southern coast of Florida.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nationalcremation.com/locations/jacksonville for the Chauret family.
