Alfred R. Aguirre went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2003 at the age of 68. He was born in San Marcos, TX on July 29, 1934 to parents, Fred and Mary Aguirre. He was a loving son, husband and uncle. He attended Southwest Texas State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters in Chemistry from the Incarnate Word University. He taught Honor's Chemistry classes at Randolph High School and Judson High School. He taught high school chemistry for 36 years. During this time, he served as Department Chairman at Randolph High School and, later, at Judson High School. He served as president of the Judson Teachers Association and as State President of Texas State Science Teachers Association. He also taught photography classes at San Antonio College for 16 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lila Aguirre; mother, Mary Aguirre; sister-in-law, Henrietta Fernandez and her husband Edward; brother-in-law, Robert Gamez and his wife Lillie; nephew, John Fernandez, his wife Lupita and their sons, Joel and Jacob; nephew, George Fernandez, his wife Sandra and their sons, Edward and John; aunts, Ofelia Prado and Cherry Aguirre and numerous cousins. Viewing will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. on Thursday March 6, 2003 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., prior to a Prayer Service which will begin at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Carlos Boerger officiating. On Friday, March 7, 2003 the Funeral Procession will leave Mission Park Funeral Home at 9:15 A.M. with Interment at San Jose Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Doctors, Carlos Menendez, Mayo Galindo; Nephrologists, Susan Diamond and William Wortham and care attendants, Luis Sifuentes and Rick De La Torre for their excellent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association, St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2302 S. Presa, San Antonio, TX 78205 or the charity of your choice.
