In loving memory of Brian Ervin Coggins
December 14, 1948 – October 10, 2017
Brian left this earth after living a life full of making friends and sharing his amazing wit and sense of humor. He loved sports especially the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed doing the crossword puzzle and wasn’t afraid to sing karaoke, particularly Sweet Caroline.
Brian was born in San Antonio to an Air Force family and traveled extensively as a child including a couple of years in Athens, Greece. His sophomore year was in Falls Church, Virginia, his junior year was in Denver, Colorado, and his senior year was at Randolph AFB (Class of '66) in San Antonio, Texas. He was an excellent athlete playing baseball and basketball in high school, all the while playing lots of golf, which he continued as an adult along with league bowling. He also played guitar and could you “wow” you with his version of Neil Diamond’s Solitary Man.
He spent a few years at the University of Texas at Austin before starting his working life in San Antonio at Granger. He later moved to Dallas and worked for a number of companies, including Atmos Energy. He had a knack for numbers and a mind for computers and his work in coding was much appreciated.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Brian Coggins and David Robert Coggins. He is survived by brother David Jr. (Wendy), brother Barry (Laurie), brother Bill (Angel), nephews David III, Cody, Casey, Christian and nieces Sarah and Chelsea.
He was a kind and generous and thoughtful person who could make you smile and laugh. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. So long dear brother, uncle, and friend.
