BRIAN COGGINS - Class of '66

In loving memory of Brian Ervin Coggins

 December 14, 1948 – October 10, 2017

Brian left this earth after living a life full of making friends and sharing his amazing wit and sense of humor. He loved sports especially the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed doing the crossword puzzle and wasn’t afraid to sing karaoke, particularly Sweet Caroline.
Brian was born in San Antonio to an Air Force family and traveled extensively as a child including a couple of years in Athens, Greece. His sophomore year was in Falls Church, Virginia, his junior year was in Denver, Colorado, and his senior year was at Randolph AFB (Class of '66) in San Antonio, Texas. He was an excellent athlete playing baseball and basketball in high school, all the while playing lots of golf, which he continued as an adult along with league bowling. He also played guitar and could you “wow” you with his version of Neil Diamond’s Solitary Man.
He spent a few years at the University of Texas at Austin before starting his working life in San Antonio at Granger. He later moved to Dallas and worked for a number of companies, including Atmos Energy. He had a knack for numbers and a mind for computers and his work in coding was much appreciated.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Brian Coggins and David Robert Coggins. He is survived by brother David Jr. (Wendy), brother Barry (Laurie), brother Bill (Angel), nephews David III, Cody, Casey, Christian and nieces Sarah and Chelsea.
He was a kind and generous and thoughtful person who could make you smile and laugh. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. So long dear brother, uncle, and friend.

Hi Gloria,

My mother Dorothy passed away at age 97, having led a wonderful life as a devoted Air Force wife and mother.  She always said that the time she lived at Randolph was her favorite time in her life.

I would appreciate it if you would post this link to her obituary at the Colonial Funeral Home website for all the Randolph folks on your list.

We have added some pictures that you can view if you keep scrolling down after the obit.  At the end of the first page of pictures you will see a "load more" button.  Click on that to view another page of pictures.

Thank you Gloria.
John Molleston

Dorothy Linville Molleston of San Antonio, Texas passed away on September 30, 2018. She was born in Mill Grove, Missouri on November 9, 1920, the daughter of Arthur and Cora Linville. Dorothy lost her mother in a diphtheria epidemic when she was a child and was raised by her single parent father. Her father raised Dorothy with the help of her beloved brother Ervin, who gave his support and love to Dorothy during her childhood years and for the rest of her life.
After graduating from high school, Dorothy took a job as a bookkeeper at a creamery in Iowa. Her bookkeeping skills served her the rest of her life as she handled the finances for the Molleston family.
She married Reid L. Molleston in Lineville, Iowa on May 3, 1942. With Reid’s enlistment in the United States Air Force, she became a devoted Air Force wife, living in many different states and the Philippines and Germany. During Reid’s deployment in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, Dorothy became head of the household and responsible for the finances, welfare and safety of the family. She became an independent and resourceful woman, helping her husband and children adapt to a series of new homes, new towns, new schools and new countries. She taught herself to be an accomplished seamstress and a great cook. Dorothy made many outfits for her daughters while they were growing up. She made outfits for two entire cheerleading squads her daughters participated in, as well as curtains and drapes that would decorate each new home of her military family. Her homemade pies, cookies and cakes are still remembered by neighbors and friends who shared in the delights.
Her husband and her family were the joy and the love of her life. Her devotion to her husband Reid and her children was unconditional and passionate. Her family will miss her greatly but is comforted by the memories of a wonderful life well spent, full of joy, accomplishment and love.
She was preceded in death by an infant son Philip, her parents, two sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her husband of seventy-six years, Reid Molleston, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret’d), son John Molleston of Austin, Texas, daughters Linda McKinney of Edwards, Colorado and Julie Molleston of Richmond, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Esplanade Gardens for the care and kindness shown to Dorothy for the last eight years. We would also like to thank the staff from Kindred Hospice for their kind expertise and attention.
A memorial graveside service will be conducted at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a time to be announced.

ROBERT PAUL LIVINGSTON (Father of Sue Livingston Johnson '64 and Annie Livingston-Garrett '67)

ROBERT PAUL LIVINGSTON

USAF Colonel (Retired) Robert Paul Livingston died on 8/28/2018 at the age of 97 under the devoted care of his wife, June (Wallace) Livingston.  Bob was born at home to his parents, Clyde Edward Livingston and Ruth (Coup) Livingston in Bedford, Iowa on 11/16/1920.  The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa where Bob started school at Des Moines North High School.  There he excelled in track and field (110 yard dash & lead off in the 440).  After graduating, Bob attended University of Iowa where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and led his ROTC drill team (Pershing Rifles) to first place before graduating (BS) in 1942 with his Army Commission.

Bob married his college sweetheart, Harriett Garl, on 6/25/1942 not long after beginning training to enter America’s WWII war effort.  He participated in the Army School for Flight before he was transferred to England where he served in the 360th Bomb Squadron before joining the 303rd Bomb Group (where he’d study photos to determine bombing sites).  Bob’s B-17 was shot down over Germany in the winter of 1943 where his leg was broken upon his parachute landing.  He was able to hide for a few days before being captured by the Germans and being interned at Stalag Lufte 3.  Bob remained there until 12/28/1943 when General Patton liberated the Prisoner of War camp.
After the war, Bob continued his military career moving from California to Levittown, NY while attending Columbia University where he received his MBA in 1946.  When stationed at the Pentagon next, he attended Survival School in Thule, Greenland.  Bob moved his family of five from Falls Church, VA., to Pepperell AFB in St. John’s, Newfoundland as a Cold War warrior.  He served in Strategic Air Command at Offutt AFB in Bellevue, Nebraska before returning to the Pentagon.  Bob was sent to Randolph AFB in San Antonio, TX, to develop and direct the Personnel Center on computer for the entire USAF.  He retired there after 24 years of service.

Never one to laze around, Bob held an office management job at a prestigious law firm in the Chicago Loop after military retirement, enabling his three children to attend and graduate college.  Upon retirement from the law firm in 1971, he and his wife travelled for 3 months throughout Europe.  They followed that trip up with a tour of East Asia and Japan.  Bob purchased an Airstream Trailer when his kids were still at home and became active in rallies, holding many offices in the Texas Hill Country Airstream Group.

Bob continued to work after and around travelling, in men’s clothing and furniture sales (Joske’s of Texas and Dillard’s), not ending his retail career at Walmart (electronics) until 2012.  He supported his wife during her fight with Parkinson’s Disease until her death in 1996.  He re-married on 4/5/1997 to June Wallace who has been his steadfast companion and caregiver to the end of his days.  They adopted their grandson, Steve Wallace Livingston, who brought much joy to his life.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, first wife, brother-in-law (Dr. Robert Moore) and niece (Nancy Moore Hines).  Surviving him are his wife, June and his grandson, Steve (San Antonio); his sister, Betty Moore (Hampton, Iowa); his daughters, Sue Johnson and Annie Livingston-Garrett (Leadville, CO); his son, Steve (Lou Ann) in Albuquerque, N.M.; his nephew, Bill (Pam) Moore (Iowa/Arizona) and niece, Marilyn Moore (Windsor Heights, IA); his stepson, James Wallace (San Antonio, TX); grandchildren, Amy (Will Kent) Johnson (Colorado Springs, CO), Michael (Desiree) Johnson (Lakewood, CO), Jahnelle Taylor, Nick Livingston and Matt Livingston (Albuquerque, N.M.); and 5 great-grandchildren, Jennifer & Jayla Taylor and Sophia Smith (Albuquerque) and Parker and Grayson Johnson (Lakewood).
Full military honors will be given at 11:15 am on Tuesday, September 18,  2018, at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery where Col. Robert Livingston’s remains will be interred.  Please join the family for lunch following the ceremony at one of Bob’s favorite restaurants, Chuy’s, 14855 I-35 Frontage Road across from the Forum.

Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) Sturrock, most recently of Austin, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. She was 99 years young.
Elizabeth was born on June 28, 1919 in Emhouse, Texas to the late Georgie Willie Adams and William Rufus Hall. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Parten Sturrock, her sister, Robinel Hall Naber and brother-in-law, Richard Naber of Niceville, Florida.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Linda Susan Sturrock Anderson of San Antonio, Texas; Janice Lynn Sturrock and her husband Steve McKee of Austin, Texas; and William Parten (Bill) Sturrock Jr and his wife Sue Sturrock of Rosebud, Texas. Beloved grandsons: Tray Anderson and fiancée Glenn Pellas of Houston, Texas, Eugene McKee of New York City, New York and Ryan McCalip of Benbrook, Texas. Nieces Linda Augustin and family and Alice Hagans and family of Niceville, Florida. Great grandchildren; Rebecca Anderson, Tray Anderson Jr and Sevlynne Anderson of Dallas, Texas.
As a young girl, Elizabeth lived in the Texas towns of Slaton, Lubbock and San Angelo where she remembered swimming in the river south of town near Cristobol. Eventually moving with her family to Houston, Elizabeth graduated from Reagan High School in 1936. Elizabeth met Bill (William Parten) Sturrock at Singer Sewing Machine Company and married him on August 24, 1946. Bill and Elizabeth had 3 children; Sue, Janice and Billy.
Elizabeth lived most of her life in Texas. After she and Bill married, she lived the life of an Air Force wife and moved her family from Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Texas to Edwards Air Force Base in California and onto Izmir, Turkey. She was passionate about expanding the horizons of her kids and while in Turkey, the family spent many weekends visiting beautiful beaches and exploring rich history of old world cities. In 1963, Bill was stationed at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Elizabeth continued to raise her 3 children and worked at Randolph as a Federal Civil Service employee from 1967-1985. She received many outstanding work commendations for her great attention to detail and creative suggestions for more efficiency in the work place.

Known as Elizabeth to family and Betty to coworkers, friends and fellow crafters. She retired from Civil Service in 1985 and devoted full time to her many hobbies including ceramics, crochet, knitting, counted cross stitch, quilting and other handcrafts. She owned 2 craft shops in the Universal City area: "Homesteader's Corner" and "The Talent Tree". She was a founding member of the Homesteaders Craft Guild of Universal City in 1986 and enjoyed trips around Central Texas to quilting and craft shops. She never met a piece of fabric that she did not like.

Betty was a creative talent her entire life; an excellent seamstress who made most of her own clothes and clothes for her 3 children when they were young. She was always pursuing new creative and artistic outlets and excelled at all of them.
She loved her children and her large extended family of aunts, uncles and many cousins. She was a great cook and excellent baker making many tasty cakes and cookies for most any occasion. She loved making candies and cookies at Christmas time and loved decorating her house for that time of year.
She took great pride in her physical appearance, taking care to wear matching outfits and "fixing her face" daily with eyebrow pencil, rouge and always lipstick.
She enjoyed watching sports and always rooted for the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs.

Elizabeth will be remembered for many things including being a loving, kind and giving daughter, mother and grandmother who loved her "kids", her grandkids and her parents dearly. We will miss her dry sense of humor, her fierce independence and her sweet blue eyes.
The family would like to thank the staff of Grace House of Lake Travis for their compassionate care and love of Betty these last years; the kind and attentive health care providers at Visiting Physicians Association and care and assistance from the staff at Guiding Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, August 6 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, Texas.
