MICHAEL WYSONG, Sr. - CLASS OF '63

Mike Wysong, Class of 1963
RANDOLPH HIGH SCHOOL

MICHAEL WYSONG, SR.

July, 2022 with Gloria Campbell and Carol Rankin

MICHAEL (Mike) WYSONG, Sr.  - RANDOLPH AFB HIGH SCHOOL, CLASS OF 1963, passed away January 25, 2023. Mike was born at Oakland Naval Hospital on August 28, 1945 to Lucille Lillian Wynne Cogger and William Frederick Cogger.  Lucille went on to marry Jim Wysong after the divorce from William Cogger.  His mother, father, step father and step sister, Jill Cogger Vita all predeceased Michael.  Also predeceasing Michael is his ex-wife, Jeanne Marie Parker.

Mike is survived by his two brothers, Terry Wysong (Linda) from Austin/Cedar Park and a younger brother David Wysong who lives in Georgetown. Sisters, Lee Cogger Cornils, Aron Wirsing Smudy and Crystal Wysong Spach.

Mike had lived in San Antonio, TX until last year around October when he moved to Fairhope, Alabama to live with his son, Michael and his wife, Julie and their two daughters. Mike continued to receive care for leukemia, but on January 25th he had just returned from a doctor's appointment when he suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away on January 25, 2023.

Mike adored his two granddaughters, Hadley (8) and Elise (6), as well as his son, CDR (Coast Guard Reserve) Michael Wysong and his wife, Julie and went to visit them whenever he could.  Mike was so proud of his son and spoke of him and his wife, Julie often. When his granddaughters were born you would have thought they were the only grandkids in the world!

He lived in San Antonio, TX and probably played at all the golf courses in San Antonio throughout his life.  He played until his knees and his stamina couldn't take it anymore.  His other love was cooking. He would tell you how to cook anything (his way). If you couldn't cook it he would cook it for you.

At one point in his life on Oak Leaf he had a 1959 Triumph or what was left of the car on the back porch that he "worked" on for years.

Mike had a million friends and he loved every one of them.  He will be remembered for a long time.

He attended Randolph High School at Randolph AFB, Texas and was in the first graduating class of 1963 of 29 students! After graduating he attended the University of North Texas graduating with a degree in Business in 1969.

There will be no memorial service in Alabama. However, there will be a Celebration of Life in San Antonio April 22, 2023. If you would like to attend please contact Michael Wysong, Jr. at the number or email below.

You may send condolences or any story you have regarding Mike to his son:

DOT ROBERTS, Beloved Mother of Jeanne Roberts Stinson (Class of '65), Passes away at 103

OBITUARY
Dorothy Irene Roberts
APRIL 5, 1919 – JANUARY 18, 2023

IN THE CARE OF

Dorothy (Dot) I. Roberts of Universal City, Texas passed away peacefully in her home on January 18, 2023. She was 103 years old and was surrounded by friends and family on that day. Dot was born on April 5, 1919 in San Antonio outside Fort Sam Houston to a military family. She graduated from Brackenridge High School and held jobs such as a car hop, telephone operator, pharmacy packer, and bookkeeper.

In 1939, she married Gene Roberts whom she had known since she was twelve years old. They were married for 55 years before his passing. In those years they moved from San Antonio to Ohio before Gene went overseas to the Pacific during WWII. Afterwards in was Kelly in San Antonio; Fort Worth; Wheelus in Tripoli, Libya; Lackland; Edwards in the Mojave Desert and finally Randolph.
Dot was always busy volunteering at different places such as the Thrift Shop, NCO Wives Club, elementary school, Girl Scouts, and the library. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting, needlepoint and her favorite thing, reading.
In Universal City, she was part of a group of individuals that wanted a library in the city. They succeeded when the city provided a surplus building. Years later they repeated their success when the city constructed a new library.
Her other passion was Wreaths Across America. This organization provides wreaths to the National Cemeteries all over the United States. She spent hours taking orders by phone, set up a tent in front of Wal-Mart and utilized other venues to spread the word about the wreaths. There is no telling over the years how many graves received a wreath or how much in donations was received. A friend remarked that when Dot entered heaven there was a line of soldiers ready to salute her.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and other family members. William A. Mitchell, father; Minnie L. Kuentz, mother; Grace (Buford) Blaylock, sister and brother in law; Earl E. Roberts, brother in law; William J. Mithcell, brother; nieces Judy and Linda; and husband of 55 years, Eugene M. Roberts. All are buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Steven) Stinson; grandsons, Kyle (Katrina) Scott; Kelly (Sharron) Scott; Michael Stinson (Jenifier Walls); Great grandchildren, Dylan Scott, Seth Scott, Dominic Walls, Jazmyn Stinson; and niece Brenda (Bob) Hale.
At Universal City United Methodist Church, she served on the finance, the Foundation and staff, pastor, parish relations committees. She was involved in establishing homeroom groups, Supper of 8, and craft projects. She also set up day trips for the congregation such as Painted Churched, Wildflower Seed Farm, plays at the Majestic, Main Street Bethlehem, and Brenham (Blue Bell).
The family would like to thank the members of the Martinez homeroom for all their assistance and support. A special thank you to the caregivers who looked after Dot and her needs.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Wreaths Across America, the Universal City library, or the Universal City United Methodist Church.
A viewing will be held Monday, February 6th at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, TX from 5 - 8PM.
A church service will be held Tuesday, February 7th at Universal City United Methodist Church, 90 Winn, Universal City, TX beginning at 10:00 am
A committal service for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.colonialuniversal.com for the Roberts family.
